“Self-awareness is the Key to Success”

1) The wisest phrase uttered: "I don't know."
Knowing the boundaries of what you can and can’t do is knowing who you are. Admitting to others there these boundaries are is a sign of this self-awareness, of humility, and of a willingness to listen and to learn. It takes courage to admit to others that you don’t know the answer – but it is that same courage that can fuel so many other wonderful things. The courage to let others show you the way. The
courage to be creative. The courage to take risks. The courage to fail and to get up and try again. If you know who you are and what you can do today, then you will also know what you have the potential to do tomorrow. Know what you don’t know.

2) The most admirable attitude: "Stay hungry."
Unpredictability. One thing holds true every day: that something we don’t know about in advance might happen to our customers. It is important to have a passion for helping others. When we put the extra effort, it matters.

3) The most innovative thinking: break your assumptions.
Our industry changes fast. To do the same underlying assumptions year after year is a dangerous place to be – those assumptions, however, good they were at one point in time can be the complete opposite down the road. Don’t stick to past principles and operating models, even if they were right before. Don’t keep doing things the same way over and over again if it isn’t relevant to our direction anymore. Keep questioning yourself. Am I doing this today because I have always done it that way? Am I making this decision because it has always worked well for me in the past? Does the result of my action further our direction? At the end of the day, we are all here to feel good to ourselves. And that means creating value – for everyone. To create unique value, you need to understand the reason why you are living in this world.

Ask the questions “Did I create value today? Are the things I’m about to do today aligned with our Gods vision and mission?” If not, don’t do it. If so, keep doing it.

Be willing to let go of what you’ve known or done in the past, and open yourself up to new ways of thinking, new assumptions, new challenges, and new possibilities.

The true spirit is to know who you are, to set aside your ego, to have the courage to be creative and the courage to fail. If your intentions are pure and your actions
aligned with our direction, you will quickly learn that if you fall, you will easily find compassion and a helping hand from others around you.
