First Quarter- months of decision and stepping out

I decided to consider moving on another company. I feel like two step backward with the change. The timing is not right based on my carrer plan and life plan. I've waited and finally end my career with my second company by end of the first quarted this 2011.

It never comes to my mind that it will happen this year. Everything comes so fast. But honestly my gut says I want to get out. So I am out now and looking for a better future.

I am blessed, annointed to do more good things this year. That I would claim, I believe and have faith that God will bless me this year.

I suddenly remembered attending Wedding of my good friend last February. We had some dinner before that. I also start dating, going out with a close friend this 1st quarter. I went out with a friend in Manila Ocean park.

I spent more time with my parents during my vacation. I rested as much as I can in my bed. I watched concernt of Bruno Mars at the Big Dome. The past weeks I spent a lot of time with my family and relatives.

The past 2010

I am posting this like I am writing on my own diary. Actually, it is not like a diary because it looks to me this is like a recollection what just happened to me last year. As of this writing, were on the second quarter of 2011 and hope I could still remember the significant events that happened to me last year.

I have this redbook as we called it wherein I usually write my career accomplishment I note in this PDP(Personal Development Plan) of mine.

January: New year and I am not that motivated to do anything unusual (as if). I work most of the time and enjoying my day shift work. I am not really enjoying cause I feel like I am stress with my boss and on my workload. Not only with my workload but also to my boss high expectations on me. The month ends at least by attending videoke time with my friends.

February: Other than the usual TOI, my month is very busy. I attended a community outreach in Kabisig Elemtary school. This school became the temporary shed of the people affected by typhoon Ondoy. I also conducted training for our HP Indonesian partners. I did attend some product training as well.

March: I attended external training conducted in MisNet Makati for 5 days. I attened another internal training and passed its examination. I attended mini reunion with my college mates at Mall of Asia in Pasay. I enjoyed this month because in 5 days Ive been in different places. I attended team building activity in Cavite. Actually the activity is inspired by Amazing race. After that I joined my friends in exploring Baguio City where in the first time I lost my wallet.

April: I have to apply for my lost IDs. From national id's to my atm and other ID's. I also attended another internal product training and successfully passed its examination. I attended Company outing and once more joined as a committee. I conducted a webinar presentation and also attended a Crisis and Escalation Management training. This month I received third time EOQ award.

May: A gold account has been transitioned to me. I also passed external certification exam. I went to Pampanga to attend fiesta with my officemate. I have a few training I conducted and joined for Gawad Kalinga in Laguna. My forth time joining Gawad Kalinga I would say my greatest experience so far for GK.

June: I attended swimming party in Marikina. Attended 1st kiddie party of my pamagkin in Mc Donalds. I also had a successful interview for US Visa application. I start transitioning my accounts to join another team this July.

July: I start working with my new team. More on getting to know the team, processes. My company also moved on another site somewhere in Ortigas.

August: I flewed to US California. Stayed there for about 3 weeks. I attended TechU event and two weeks of transition. I went to many places, stores and places. I've been on many stores (shopping to the max) in California and Vegas. I met my two aunties in Vegas and in California. We went hotels, downtown, The Street in Las Vegas. I experienced for the first time to play the slotmachine. I swim in a cold beach in Huntinton beach. Went to disneyland and had a headache in Six Flags. Everyday is like gluttany. I forgot to mention, I met a weird guy in the plane goint to LAX.

September: I accepted another EOQ award. I then joined my friends and flewed domestic going to Bohol. We explore Bohol and had a quick island hop in Cebu.

October: I start reviewing and passed an external certification.

November-December: Nothing good happens. I could not remember anything interested. The usual spending time in the cementery. Stayed home during Christmas and New year. By the end of the year reveals some changes for my career. See my next post for details.

Time to Change my Password

I try to read News in Yahoo to become updated what is happening around me. It just come to me this article about Password. Yes, most of the people in this century have at least one personal password. From their personal bank account, personal computer login to business password, email or messenger account and even the personal cellphone we have.

So if your password is as simple as 123456 or abcde to your name, birthdate or as simple as iloveyou to password then be creative in making your password. My suggesstion is for you to use the nonalphanumeric characters like @, #, $, _,* and other characters yu can find in your keyboard. The bad thing in using this characters is that you tend to forgot your password. So the key is be creative, save it to a file wherein you personally will not let anyone will get interested to look at.

Thanks for the article below who then remind me to guard my personal accounts. =)

Zero-day: Number 1 search Engine Attack via Internet Explorer

Everyone is talking about China because of Google's decision to reevaluate its business operations due to its attack to their systems as one of te primary reasons.
It has been reported that the said attack distinctively targets Gmail accounts of Chinese human rights advocates in the United States, Europe and China.

Other search engines have similar report cases such as Yahoo! Dow Chemicals, and Northrop Grumman.

Security researches found thattargeted attcks use several vectors. In some cases, email messages loaded with malicious file attachments were sent to users. An exploit code taking advantage of the recently-patched vulnerability in Adobe Reader and Acrobat (CVE-2009-4324) was used to drop malware on affected systems.

Some of the attack's use of previous undetected vulnerabilty of Internet Explorer except 5.01 (CVE-2010-0249). In its recent Security Advisory, Microsoft acknowledged that this bug was indeed used to launch attacks against Google and other organizations, and recommended several workaround solutions to help reduce the impact of this bug on IE users.

In some recent work-around, I guess we could try using other web browser like Firefox. So I recommend update your browser or aplications with its latest patch. As I could see most of the malware now attack users which are not yet patch.

Virus Payload

1. Installation: How the malware is able to setup itself on the system to be able to run properly

2. Propagation: An act of malware to replicate for the purpose of spreading across different computers

3. Payload: Any malicious activity being done by the malware aside from installation and propagation

Know the Basic about Malware

Before anything else we need to know the basic about malware. As my trainer said, as malware now is so complex and vey hard to detect, clean or to remove we still have to know the basic about malware so we could easily learn the best aproach how to deal with it.

Malware is malicious software or computer program that performs malicious activities

Types of Malware

1. Virus
- Infect files
- Executable codes / programs
- Inserted into another executable code / program
Examples
- Boot virus
- Binary file infectors
- Multipartite viruses
- Macro viruses
- Script viruses

2. Worm
- A form of malware that creates a copy of itself and then sends itself over the network to infect other systems
- Methods of worm propagation
Email
Internet Relay Chat (IRC)
Instant Messaging (IM) Applications
Peer-to-Peer File Sharing Applications
Network Shares
Vulnerability Exploits

3. Trojan

- A Trojan Horse is malware that does not have the capability to spread or propagate.
- Trojan Horse malware cannot propagate by themselves because they do not have the mechanism to send their own copy to another computer
- It gets into a users machine by riding on a third-party application that is trusted by the user
- The user is unaware that the system is infected

These are just the basic types of malware. I will share more information as we go with our journey in having a free malware world. Which I hope is possible.

Hello 2010, what happened last 2009

Its already 2010. But I would like to share what happened to me for the past months of 2009. There are so many things happened but let me just pointed out the things that are meaningful to me.

August - Nothing really happens. I just spend the whole month working.

September - The month of typhoon Ondoy. I spend my 24 hrs. in the office bacuse of this typhoon. Many places in Metro Manila especially Pasig, Marikina, Cainta and even our house in Quezon City got flooded.

October- I attended the Bowling Game in Paeng's Eastwood Bowling court. This is my birthday month and I just spend a simple celebration in our house. Thanks Marge for remembering me on my birthday!!!

I also volunteered to visit and check the status of my fellow Trenders located in Marikina whose affected by typhoon Ondoy.

November- I become a studio audience of Eat Bulaga.

I become a volunteer for an event of Haribon for A Million Hectare walk. This is an event which main goal is to get donations/pledges to plant endeginous trees all over the Philippines. I was able to got not just big money and donated it to Haribon organization.

December - I participated once more for Department Christmas presentation during our company's Christmas party. The part wherein I will always remember was during the part wherein I played the role for Backstreet boys. I was highlighted during its intro. Although we did not win, I still enjoyed it because once more I know that I have the talent. =)

I would like to thank God for all the blesssings. My life, my family, my work, my friends and everything I have. Thank you Lord God for blessing me this year 2009. In this coming year, I pray that God will continually bless me, my family and my work.

I also pray for peace, good health and better government this coming year. I also pray for a colorful love life I have.

I learned a lot this year. There are times when I feel like I failed but I am still grateful for these shortcomings motivated me to become a better person.

Happy New Year!!! Welcome 2010

Long time No post

It's been a long time since my last post. I am so busy in my job and I could not find even looking or opening my friendster. By the way, friendster has become unpopular because of Facebook.

I just want to share some notes I have after listening to this audiobook entitled "The Present".

The Present

Three (3) ways to use your present moment:
1. Be in the present.
2. When you want to be happy and successful focus on what is right now
3. Use your purpose to respond to what is important now

Learn from the past

1. When you want to make the present better than the past look what happened in the past
2. Learn something valuable from it
3. Do things differently in the present

Plan for the Future

If you want to make future better than the present
1. See what a wonderful future would look like
2. Make plans to help it happen
3. Put your plan into action in the present

Third time for GK- March 2009 round

For the third time I was able to attend the Home Building Program for Gawad Kalinga. Last week, March 2 to 6, 2009 I was on Calamba Laguna building homes not houses.

Our batch is just a small group composed of 16 Volunteers, Trenders from different offices in the globe. We have Trenders from Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, and the US. I met Program Managers, Marketing Assistant, Director, Accounts Receivable Assistant and fellow Technical Account Manager and of course my fellow Trenders from PH. We have Engineer from Consumer group, AV support team and from the IT department.

First time Trend Micro will held our program in Laguna and because the the main camp is in Batangas we stayed in a Hotel. We are lucky because we stayed in a Hotel with some recreational like pools, videoke and other outdoor sports like basketball.

Almost everyday, after the hard days work we go on swimming. One night we also do videoke. We also do basketball in the pool. Totally I really enjoyed the program.

What really touches me is this 3-4 year old boy who learned to do coloring. At first the boy does not know how to handle the pen and he colors overlapping the figure in the paper. We teach the boy how to handle the color pen and after a few minues he learned how to handle and to color inside the figure. I feel very proud myself and prouder with the boy for its like a new step in changing the future of this boy and I become the instrument for it.

First day of the build makes my body ache but I used to it as days go by. I got blister from our first day for we dig a ditch about 6 feet under the groud. I remembered Geoff one of the US volunteers joking and said "People are digging for Gold but we are digging for Shit." We also did planting and painting. We also help in bringing the mixed cement to the site.

We have many kiddie games and I did enjoy more when we did the Hephep Horay which is one of the games from Wowawe. We also did a Carnival Game and for our group we did the Balloon games. Other group did the pokpok palayok, hit the stack cans, and others. Its tiring but I enjoyed as well for we make so many children and people in Laguna to smile, laugh and appreciate our doings.

There are many things and stories I could tell but I will keep things on my own. I would like to share it but there is something which words not enough to explain.

For sure, if given another chance I will submit my application again.
